The Caister-on-Sea
Women's Institute hold meetings on the second Monday of every month
and meetings always start at 7.30 pm although our meeting venue is
open from 7.00 pm.
We
meet in the Youth and Community Centre in the middle of our village
and always kick-off the meeting with the hymn Jerusalem except in
December when we usually have a Christmas carol to start the evening
off. In June of every year we commemorate the founding of our branch
and hold a small birthday party to celebrate.
During
our meetings members have the opportunity to buy bric a brac and books
from a sales stall, purchase raffle tickets and contribute to an ongoing
competition which runs throughout the year culminating in the presentation
of a piece of ceramic for runners up and a Shield for the winner. The
evening is usually a lively one and frequently finishes with humorous
poems or a small quiz.
Every meeting we have a guest speaker with
diverse subjects ranging from "bee keeping" to "a walk
through our local graveyards" and we try to make our programme as
interesting and varied as possible for our members and as you can see from the program below this year is no exception. |
