We
have a very active walking group. They usually walk between 3-5 miles
in distance and the pace is a slow amble, suitable for those that
are not able to keep up a fast pace. The countryside around us is
wonderful, situated as we are right on the edge of the Norfolk Broads
and so we are able to have a wonderful choice of routes through public
right of ways and along the waterways of the Broads.
The
group tries to walk fortnightly although they do ease off more in
winter when it is not so much fun with the East wind coming off the
sea.
There are frequently
trips on offer. Some are just local and for these we car share as
not all members have transport and for visits further afield we usually
hire a coach. For the coach trips it is usually possible to bring
a guest or spouse.
Last year we visited the Cromer Christmas Show, then Sandringham and a party of over thirty of us went to the Isle of Wight for the weekend. This year our planned trips include a visit to a well known rose garden and lunch, Holkham Hall & Museum, Wymondham Abbey, Wells-next-the-sea and in October nearly 40 of us are going away for a weekend to the Beamish Victorian Museum with free time in Durham and a ride on the Pickering to Grosmont yorkshire moors railway.
